Phytoremediation

One promising approach for PFAS soil remediation is phytoremediation, a bioremediation process that utilizes plants to remove, transfer, stabilize, and/or destroy contaminants in the soil. Leveraging short rotation coppice (SRC) willow varieties as energy crops, this innovative plant employs an irrigation system to utilize wastewater for irrigation in a safe and approved manner. The integrated Laqua Filter solutions, similar to activated carbon filters, are adept at capturing and breaking down organic environmental toxins through micro-/macro-organism flora found within the filter. Additionally, the Laqua Hybrid filter, a novel waste water management solution, combines a ‘Soil plant-system’ (Willow), a Wetland, and a Laqua Filter in a controlled environment for optimal exposure of contaminants to roots and filter substrates.
